The Museum of Art + Light (MoA+L) in Manhattan, Kansas, seeks a full-time Building Security & Maintenance Specialist to support the safety, protection, and daily operations of the museum’s building, staff, visitors, and artwork. This role integrates professional security responsibilities with hands-on facilities maintenance to ensure the museum remains a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment.
The specialist is responsible for opening and closing the museum, conducting patrols of galleries and mechanical areas, responding to safety or maintenance issues, and monitoring activity inside and outside the building. The role enforces museum policies; safeguards art, property, and people; provides escorts and access control; and serves as the primary on-site contact during emergencies.
Maintenance duties include performing routine facility inspections, troubleshooting minor issues, completing light repairs, monitoring building systems, and providing basic support for specialized equipment such as projectors in immersive exhibition spaces.
This position requires strong communication and documentation through accurate logs and reporting. Collaboration with Operations, Visitor Experience, Exhibitions, Collections, Marketing, and Education teams is essential.
