The City of Goodland, Kansas is seeking a dynamic, community-minded leader to serve as Director of the High Plains Museum. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about history, education, community engagement, and preserving and sharing the story of our region.
The Museum Director is a hands-on, multifaceted leader responsible for advancing the Museum’s mission, building and maintaining community relationships, supervising a small staff and volunteers, supporting fundraising efforts, and creatively promoting the Museum as both an educational resource and a heritage tourism destination.
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator who can clearly and enthusiastically share the Museum’s vision while developing strong relationships with community partners, visitors, donors, and volunteers. A bachelor’s degree, previous fundraising success, and museum experience are preferred but not required.
Salary: $40,000–$48,000 annually, DOQ, plus a competitive City benefit package.
Start Date: Flexible, with a preferred start date around January 1, 2027. The position will remain open until filled.
