The Kansas Museums Association (KMA) awards program honors institutions and individuals whose achievements are worthy of special recognition. Such recognition furthers the mission of KMA, which is to create, to foster, and to promote interest in, advancement of, and appreciation for museums in Kansas.

Award Categories:
The Award for Excellence recognizes outstanding achievements by Kansas museums. All institutional members are eligible who have not won an Award of Excellence in the last two years. Awards are given for specific one-time projects or programs (e.g. exhibit, educational program, collections management initiative, preservation project, public program, etc.) completed within 18 months prior to the nominations deadline. Ongoing programs are not eligible. Institutional members must be currently paid-up members at the time of application.

The Award for Distinguished Service recognizes individuals for outstanding service to KMA or to the Kansas museums community over a number of years. This is NOT intended to be an award for service to a single institution, as in a lifetime achievement type of award.  Possible exceptions for awards for service to a single institution would be cases in which a museum has specifically asked for help from the Kansas Museums Association, or in which the KMA has requested help for a single museum.  Individual members must be currently paid-up members at the time of nomination.

This category is open to individual members.
