Kansas Sesquicentennial Road Signs Available for Museums

Photo of Road Signs

Are you interested in collecting a piece of Kansas sesquicentennial history?  In recognition of the 150th anniversary of statehood, the Kansas Department of Transportation placed road signs on major highways along the state’s boarder.  I hope you were able to see them in your travels.  It is time for the signs to come down and they are looking for a good home.  KDOT has 20 metal signs that are 6′ X 1 1/2′ and two metal signs that measure 12′ X 2′.  These are standard reflective state highway signs, see attached drawing.  The 6 foot signs will be taken to the nearest KDOT office and interested parties can pick them up there.  The 12 foot signs were located on I-70 at Kansas City and Goodland.  KDOT will deliver these signs to museums within a 50 mile radius of these cities. If you would like a sign, please email me at mmadden@kshs.org by Monday, January 30.  Please include the name and address of your museum and if you are requesting a 6 foot or 12 foot sign.  You will be notified on January 31 if we can accommodate your request.  We hope to be able to accommodate everyone.

I look forward to hearing from you.
