As we prepare for 2026 and the official kick off of the Semiquincentennial or 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, KMA is gathering resources for museums across the state to use in your own commemorations. Whether you are looking for ideas for programs, themes for exhibits, formats for events, or grant funding to pay for your ideas, check out our new US 250 Resource page, which can also be found at the top of our homepage next to the Members-Only login throughout 2026.
Be sure to take advantage of the Moments That Made Us resource - a free, customizable, print-on-demand exhibition that was developed by History Colorado and a multi-state collaborative team to provide a template for museums in Western states to engage with the US 250th themes and encourage conversations and reflection. Look for it on the US 250 Resource page, and watch for Kansas-specific panels that you can add, coming soon!
We will continue to update this page with additional opportunities that we find throughout the year. Do you know of something we should share? Please contact us and under question topic choose “general” from the dropdown.
Thank you for helping to make this year memorable for generations of Kansans!
