Elimination of the Kansas Mortgage Registration Fee Impacts Heritage Trust Fund
Currently within the Kansas Senate is an issue to eliminating the Kansas mortgage registration fee which is how the Heritage Trust Fund is funded.
The Kansas mortgage registration fee is a small $.26 per $100 that home
owners pay. Only $.01 per $100 goes from this fee directly to the Heritage
Trust Fund. So far there has been no alternative funding source proposed.
We cannot afford to lost the Heritage Trust Fund as it has done too much
to preserving historic properties.
