Director – Wyandotte County Museum, Kansas City
The Wyandotte County Museum Director is responsible for the leadership and management of the Department, including staffing (paid and volunteer staff), programs, partnerships, grant management, fundraising, and external relations. The Director is also responsible for collection, curation, maintenance, preservation and educational displays of historical items and artifacts. Development and oversight of the Museum’s budget as part of the Unified Government. The Director is charged with delivering on the mission and goals of the museum as established by the Wyandotte County Historical Society and Unified Government Board of Commissioners by preparing and maintaining a fiscally sound budget, developing written policies and standards for the museum and its operation and accomplishing Society objectives. The Director ensures the museum and its operation conforms with requirements and standards recognized in the field, and toward accreditation by the American Association of Museums. The Director plays a leading role, working closely with the Historical Society and staff, in developing and articulating the strategic direction of the Museum and in implementing the resulting strategies and initiatives.
The Unified Government offers a comprehensive salary and benefits package. Approximate starting salary: $4,967.74 – $6,890.00 /mo.
