Curator of Education – Johnson County Museum, Overland Park
The Johnson County Museum in suburban Kansas City seeks an energetic and visionary leader to oversee an ambitious education program. The Curator of Education reports to the Museum Director, is a member of the Museum’s management team, and supervises a 3-6 member staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, developing and executing educational programs for a wide range of audience groups: early-childhood, K-12, higher education, and family visitors.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively to develop the vision for education and public programs; plan and implement dynamic, hands-on exhibitions and programs; proactively promote collaborations with the area schools; oversee the day-to-day activities of direct reports; oversee the Museum’s volunteer program including recruitment, training, retention and recognition of museum volunteers; serve as the Audience Advocate on the Museum’s Exhibition Team; and represent the Museum to community groups in a professional manner. The Museum has been recognized over the past 20+ years for its innovation programs and exhibits, garnering over 25 state and national awards.
