Attendee Information: Welcome to the 2020 KMA Virtual Conference
All conference content will be posted on a password protected website. Once you access the conference page via the link and password below you can attend each conference event by clicking on the title of each event to open the correct Zoom room at the time indicated on the schedule. Content is still being added to the password protected site in the week leading up to the conference; if you can’t find what you are looking for it will be there soon! Only one day’s events will appear at a time, and we will send a reminder email each morning of the conference. The link and password have been sent to the email address you used to register. **If you have registered for the pre-conference workshop, you will receive an additional email with a separate link and password for that event**
Conference information The main page of the KMA website (www.ksmuseums.org) has the most up-to-date general information; and additional information (more detailed posts, like Zoom tutorials, etc.) can be found under the conference tab. A full conference schedule with descriptions of all events, sessions, speakers etc. is available:
- On the website here.
- Click here for a printable version with the latest updates. Any necessary changes or updates will be reflected on the KMA website.
KMA is committed to our 2020 virtual conference being a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone. We have developed our KMA Conference Policies with that in mind. Please click here to read the policies. Note that by submitting a registration to the KMA 2020 Virtual Conference, you agree to these policies and specifically the following: You authorize KMA to use, reproduce, and/or publish photographs and/or video that may pertain to you — including your image, likeness, and/or voice without compensation.
If you need accommodations to make the conference accessible, please contact Morgan Barnes at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
We will be using Zoom to access all speakers, sessions, and events. We have developed a guide to answer your Zoom questions whether it is your first time using the platform or you are a pro! Click here to see everything from what to do before the conference starts, to a written and video walk through of accessing sessions, to troubleshooting hints. This is a good page to bookmark!
As a courtesy to presenters and other attendees, we do ask that you mute your mic when you join each session to minimize distractions and background noises. There will be opportunities to ask questions at the end of the sessions or via the chat box. We also ask you to check the name that appears on your Zoom profile and if you can rename yourself to at least your first name and institution, that will help serve the same purpose as our nametags at the in-person conferences! Details on how to do this can be found here.
Having technical issues or problems getting into the Zoom sessions? We are here to help! From any page on our website, you can click the chat popup in the lower right corner of the screen. Morgan or I will help you via chat in the order in which we were contacted. Don’t worry if it takes a few minutes; the sessions and speakers will be recorded and available for one month after the conference, so you won’t miss out!
If we are having technical issues on our end, we will send you a message at the email you used to register for the conference. There will be a link to a waiting room and we will transfer you over to the proper room as soon as we are up and running!
Want a fun Zoom background? We have several to choose from that are specific to museums and also highlight our 2020 Conference Sponsors! Choose one and get steps to make it your background here.
The KMA Business Meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, from 11:45 am – 12:15 pm.
The documents for review have been sent to your email address and will also be posted on the password protected website.
An attendee list was sent to your email. If you note any corrections that need to be made, please send them to email@example.com.
On Demand Viewing
The sessions and speakers will be recorded and available for 1 month after the conference. Once we have processed all of the recordings, about a week after the conference, you will receive an email with a link to the password protected site that houses them. They will be available for 1 month from the time of that email for you to access at your convenience.
